Lion Jesus

Sometimes when I am drawing, I never know what I am going to end up with.

Lion Jesus by Kyle Richtig

Lion Jesus was sketched by me sometime in 2006/2007. I remember starting the sketch as a face, but as I continued, something particularly animalistic began to emerge. It wasn’t until I was finished that it reminded me of blend of the classic Jesus image crossed with that of a lion.

This piece was particularly controversial, as it sounds a lot like “Lyin’ Jesus”. I was not trying to cause a religious fervour with this; however, it sometimes comes along when you are not even trying.
