80’s Nail Polish

80’s Nail Polish was painted at Richtig Haus in Toronto in April of 2001.

80’s Nail Polish is a painting by Kyle Richtig.

The title is somewhat misleading, as there are no fingernails in the painting. The title 80’s Nail Polish refers to the background colour – a shade that was a popular nail colour when I was a child. The woman in the photo is the personification of my idealism of the time. I was waging a war against the concept that humans are more significant than plants or other animals.
