Day One

I started today at TriArch, which was great. It was much more exciting than when I started at The Weed Man, or The Durham Contact Centre. God knows that it will also be much more rewarding.

I had to go to work for a full day today for orientation stuff in the morning, and then to sit in with my student. My student “MS”, (sorry, confidentiality), is working on English as a Second Language, which was interesting. He already has a pretty good understanding of the English language, but needs help when it comes to reading and writing. He’s making good progress, and I actually did some of the lessons today.

I met a few people at work, but it almost seems like there is a distance between all of the employees. They do not really work together, so it’s understandable. Jen sat in with me today as she is the trainer for TriArch, and was teaching MS while I watched. She was very nice, and sort of reminded me of what Melissa would have looked like if she had continued on the path she was on when she was 12.

I don’t have to be at work tomorrow until the afternoon, as I am part time for now. I’ll be working from 1:00 – 4:30 everyday, which is probably going to be the most convenient and easiest job I’ve ever had. My office is so close that I was able to walk home for lunch, which is something I haven’t been able to do since I was in high school.

I got a terrible sunburn in the Soo, and it’s finally starting to feel better. What is most terrible, is that I did not only get a sunburn, but I also was eaten alive by mosquitoes. The mosquito bites are on the sunburn too, so I could not scratch because of the pain. There is nothing more excruciating than not being able to scratch a mosquito bite, as well as being in pain when trying to do so.

I miss the Soo.
